Words from the Chief Editor
In the month of July, we celebrated Surya (the Sun), as both the ancient source of life in Vedic knowledge and the modern source of clean, renewable energy for our campus. With the successful completion of IUVW’s solar energy installation, we step boldly into a future where ancient reverence meets technological innovation.
From the hymns of the Ṛgveda to the panels now gleaming on our rooftops, the Sun has been our constant guide -illuminating our path, nourishing life, and reminding us of our place in the cosmic order. In Vedic thought, Surya is not only a celestial body but the embodiment of vitality, knowledge, and truth. In today’s world, it is also a partner in sustainability - reducing our carbon footprint, powering our classrooms, and inspiring our students to live in harmony with nature.
May we continue to draw from Surya’s eternal light - to energize our minds, empower our communities, and enlighten our collective journey.

pratyakṣam asya sūryasya raśmibhiḥThe Hymn (Ṛgveda 1.50.10)
Meaning:
‘We behold the Sun who has risen, driving away darkness, spreading light upon the Earth with his rays.’
Scientific explanation
Think of the Sun as Earth’s natural timekeeper. Every morning, when it rises, it signals all living things that a new day has begun. This Vedic verse celebrates that daily process.
‘Driving away darkness’ means the Sun’s light replaces night, but it also plays a role in regulating our biological clocks, improving alertness, and influencing mood by stimulating brain chemicals like serotonin.
‘Spreading light’ is not only about brightness -sunlight provides the energy plants need for photosynthesis, which produces the oxygen we breathe and the food we eat, while also warming the planet to support life.
‘Rays’ are streams of solar energy that reach every part of Earth, powering weather patterns, water cycles, and sustaining ecosystems.
The Vedic sages recognized the Sun as both a physical life source and a symbol of enlightenment -just as sunlight brightens the world, knowledge and truth illuminate the human mind.

Morning Sun Rituals for Energy & Balance
Start your day the Vedic way-by aligning with the radiant rhythm of the Sun:
Flow with Sūrya Namaskāra: Perform the sun salutation within the first hour of sunrise to awaken your body, breath, and inner fire (agni).
Soak in the Sunshine: Let early morning rays gently touch your skin to boost natural Vitamin D and uplift immunity.
Face the Light, Find Your Center: Meditate facing the Sun to harmonize your circadian rhythm, elevate mood, and begin the day with clarity and calm.
When you rise with the Sun, you rise with purpose, power, and peace.
The Bhagavad Gita (10.21) says: “Among the luminaries in the sky, I am the radiant Sun.”
This verse invites us to recognize the Sun not just as a cosmic light, but as a reflection of the divine energy within us-urging us to radiate clarity, warmth, and vitality in our lives.
Modern science affirms this ancient wisdom. Sunlight helps regulate our body’s internal clock, which controls digestion, metabolism, and sleep. Morning light signals the body to activate its systems, boosts energy, and supports better digestion. Sun exposure also helps produce vitamin D, which is essential for a strong immune system and overall well-being.
Just as the Sun awakens the world, let it awaken health and harmony within all of us.
