Namaste Wellness Seekers,
This fortnight, we reflect on the profound theme of Yoga for One Earth, One Health, beautifully celebrated at our Streamwood campus on the 11th International Yoga Day. Yoga is a global movement toward mindful living, planetary health, and universal harmony.
Let us remember that every breath we take, every conscious movement we make, resonates far beyond our body, it touches the Earth. When we align our lifestyle with Yogic values, we become guardians of both inner and outer ecology.
In unity,
Prof. (Dr.) Abhimanyu Kumar MSc, MD(Ay), PhD

लोकाः समस्ताः सुखिनो भवन्तु। “Lokaḥ Samastāḥ Sukhino Bhavantu” – Let all beings everywhere be happy and free.
This Vedic mantra reflects a bio-psycho-ecological model of wellness. Yoga's ethical limbs (yamas and niyamas) align with sustainability science; reducing ecological footprint, enhancing emotional regulation, and fostering social cohesion.
Conscious breathing lowers physiological stress and CO₂ emissions; plant-based diets reduce greenhouse gases; meditative stillness promotes neuroplasticity and collective calm. Inner balance fosters planetary balance. Read More
Daily Practices for Planetary Peace and Personal Wellness
Surya Namaskar with Intention: Begin your day with a mindful practice of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations), not just as physical movement but as a ritual of gratitude. Dedicate each round to a vital element of Earth’s ecosystem like-air, water, forests, animals, and humanity. This intentional flow fosters a deeper ecological consciousness while enhancing circulation, flexibility, and vitality.
Triphala Tea at Night: A warm cup of Triphala tea before bed can gently detoxify the digestive tract, support regular bowel movements, and nourish the gut microbiome. Rich in antioxidants, Triphala helps balance all three doshas and strengthens immune response; making it an ideal night-time ritual for internal cleansing and metabolic harmony.
Bhramari Pranayama (Bee Breath): Practicing Bhramari for 5–10 minutes daily soothes the vagus nerve, reduces stress, and stabilizes mood. The gentle humming sound mimics the vibrations of nature, helping you feel more grounded and connected. Scientifically, it has been shown to lower heart rate and blood pressure, promoting parasympathetic activation and inner calm.
The Union of Self and Nature -Yoga as Ecological Dharma
The Upaniṣads describe the body as the microcosm (Pinda) and the universe as the macrocosm (Brahmanda). When one is polluted, the other is affected.
Practicing Yoga daily is akin to honoring the Earth; it’s a sacred act of reconnecting with the five elements (Pañca-Mahābhūta) within and without.
समत्वं योग उच्यते। “Samatvam Yoga Uchyate” — Yoga is equanimity. (Gītā 2.48)
This timeless verse defines Yoga as the cultivation of inner balance. Neuroscientific studies now affirm that emotional equanimity reduces cortisol, enhances executive brain function, and improves adaptability under stress. Such balance fosters clarity in action, essential in navigating both mental health challenges and environmental uncertainty.
Take-home message: A steady mind is not just spiritual, it is scientifically strategic. Cultivating equanimity is key to personal wellness and planetary harmony.
Research published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience confirms that group Yoga practices significantly reduce community-level stress indicators and inflammatory markers. Collective practices amplify emotional synchrony and even show a measurable drop in cortisol dispersion within shared environments.
Yoga for One Earth, One Health -A Historic Celebration at IUVW
On June 21, 2025, the scenic campus of the International University of Vedic Wellness (IUVW) in Streamwood, IL, transformed into a vibrant hub of harmony and holistic healing during its celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga. Themed ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ the event brought together an inspiring blend of ancient practice and modern relevance.
Distinguished guests graced the occasion, including Dr. Santosh Kumar (Founder, IUVW), Prof. Abhimanyu Kumar (Vice Chancellor), Hon. Kevin Morrison (Cook County Commissioner), Hon. Paula McCombie (Mayor of South Barrington), and media leader Vandana Jhingan (TV Asia), alongside families, students, and wellness advocates from across Chicagoland.
The morning commenced with a soulful Yoga prayer, followed by sessions of Pranayama and Asanas. The event beautifully echoed the Vedic principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam –‘The world is one family.’
The celebration was marked by two historic honors:
A formal Resolution by the Cook County Board of Commissioners, recognizing June 21, 2025, as International Yoga Day and acknowledging IUVW’s leadership in wellness education.
A Mayoral Proclamation from Hon. Paula McCombie, officially recognizing and celebrating International Yoga Day within the Village of South Barrington and honoring IUVW for advancing community well-being.
Together, these proclamations not only validated Yoga’s global relevance but also positioned IUVW as a rising center of excellence for Vedic sciences in North America.
